Nicole Shellshear
Accounting Manager
Bachelor of Business, CPA

Nicole joined Saywells in 2011 and has over 25 years’ experience in banking and accounting, giving her a strong insight into the financial needs of a wide range of clients.

Nicole is a valuable member of the Saywells team and her detailed and comprehensive understanding of accounting for small business and specialisation in Thoroughbred Horse Breeding and Racing industries are a real asset for us and our clients

Outside work, Nicole spends her time “horsing around” indulging her interest in matters equestrian.

Karl Hirst
Accounting Manager
Bachelor of Commerce, CPA

Karl joined Saywells in 2017 after 20 years in local accounting practice. Karl’s extensive experience in accounting for small businesses make him a great resource for our business and individual clients.

Karl is our in-house SMSF (Self Managed Super Fund) expert. If you are considering an SMSF or looking for a highly professional insight into your current fund then Karl is the one to see.

In his spare time Karl is a keen sports fan and busy keeping up with his two young children.

Julie Vivian
Assistant Accountant

Julie joined the team at Saywells in 2010 bringing extensive hands on experience in business: management accounting, bookkeeping and administration.

An MYOB expert, Julie is a great resource for many of our small business clients. Julie has taken on the responsibility of all administration and accounts for 2 large Irrigation District clients and is now also an expert in the operation of the NSW Water Act.

Julie is actively involved in our local community and is a permanent fixture at the Newcastle Jets soccer home games with her now teenage kids. In her few spare minutes she works on her own and her husband’s small businesses.

Michael Johnsen
Bachelor of Commerce

Michael joined Saywells in 2015 as a university trainee. Now recently graduated and moving into study towards his Chartered Accounting post-graduate qualification.

Michael’s experience and training as an accounting all rounder make him a valued part of the Saywells team.

Outside of work Michael will be found playing or watching sport, he’s a keen basketballer and touch footy player and loves to follow all kinds of sports.

Bronwyn Kroon
Bachelor of Accounting Science

Having started her career and completed her university studies in South Africa, Bronwyn also now brings many years’ Australian experience, in business and accounting practice to her work at Saywells.

Bronwyn joined Saywells in 2016 and is a great resource for business clients with her extensive knowledge of MYOB, Xero and other accounting software. Bronwyn’s previous years in the corporate world also give her a strong insight into the bookkeeping, payroll and accounting needs of small business.

Somehow Bronwyn also manages to squeeze in a busy life with her husband and young son as well as study towards her Chartered Accounting post-graduate qualification.

Chris Luphahla
Bachelor of Accounting Science

Since he joined the Saywells team in 2016, Chris has converted his knowledge and training gained in Zimbabwe to the Australian context and developed a comprehensive understanding of accounting for small business with a growing interest in SMSFs (Self Managed Super Funds).

A keen soccer player himself, Chris’s spare time is divided between teaching his young son to kick goals and the demands (joys) of a new addition to the family.

Chris will soon commence his studies towards his Chartered Accounting qualification.

Hamish Spinaze
Trainee Accountant

A recent addition to the Saywells team, Hamish is currently studying towards his Bachelor of Commerce at Newcastle University while learning the trade with us part time.

Another keen soccer player, Hamish’s spare time when not studying is spent training for his next game.

Jaclyn Mayberry
Bookkeeper / Admin Officer
Bachelor of Commerce

Jaclyn joined Saywells in 2017 and brings with her strong experience working in accounting practice and with small business clients.

Jaclyn’s role is split between supporting our admin and accounting teams and when not helping out with Reception duties, she works on bookkeeping for clients and the practice, ensuring our clients meet all of their ASIC obligations as well as preparation of financial reports.

An avid rugby fan, Jaclyn’s weekends are busy following the Pokolbin Reds and putting the finishing touches on the planning for her wedding later this year.
